Vehicle Registration Unit
Due to the ongoing COVID 19 emergency, NJ Motor Vehicle Commission (MVC) offices remain closed through at least the end of May and office reopening dates are uncertain. To facilitate allowable waste hauling activities, the Department is accepting Temporary Vehicle Registration, License Plate and Insurance cards for all haulers effective immediately. Once MVC offices are opened, haulers will be expected to acquire permanent cards and submit Modification forms with the updated information to the Department through LRU@dep.nj.gov. Once processed, you will be mailed updated Cab Cards.
Please also note that all driver licenses (including CDL’s), non-driver IDs, registrations, and inspection stickers expiring before May 31 are extended by two months. More details can be found at the following MVC website link https://www.state.nj.us/mvc.
